Default 03 dull knocking

03 with 43,000miles - still some warranty left.

The first few minutes of driving produce a dull knocking noise which goes away once the truck is warmed up. The noise frequency increases with RPMs.

I haven't been able to get pinpoint the noise yet, but I'm wondering if this is one of those common to 03-4 noises that indicates something I need to get fixed before my warranty runs out.

I don't know what is causing the knocking, but it never hurts to let them check it out, if it is still under warranty...

Two strong possibilities--- and both expensive to rectify if payingout of pocket. The first is a lower end bearing knock (rod or main) and this year had a oil pressure problem, so get in in NOW--- and have them verify with a pressure gage that the pressure is sufficient. Second--- is a cracked flex plate where the engine transmits the power to the transmission. This sound will be louder at idle and not go away with temp changes.

One other possibility is you could be getting ready to have an oil pump failure, 03's were know for it and alot of people lost their engines before they figured out what the problem was.
Might want to have someone hook a mechanical oil pressure guage to your engine and see what show up.
