04 DII Ticking at intake - with video
#2
Thank You!
Thank you very much for this thread...
Ever since buying my Discovery, there's been a very light tick at times when starting and cold. I have put a ruler to my ear and listened to most all the parts under the hood, never being able to find the source. Tried heads, valves, exhaust, sleeves, intake, steering pump, alt, A/C, etc, etc... Tried all over the engine, even though sound was coming from driver side intake. I finally resigned it to a gremlin that was not going to cause harm.
After your post, and looking at the RAVE to find the Purge Valve, I can confirm positivily that this is the source. I never listened to that part because I never figured a valve could cause that noise. Is the tick a problem for this part? Does it need to be replaced/cleaned?
Now I can put that to rest and not worry about it anymore. The longer I have this truck, the more I LOVE it! Seems I bought a good one and am getting very lucky so far.
