Default 04' Discovery Coolant black crap

Hey all. I recently installed a new radiator into my 04' Disco. During this, all of the coolant was removed and replaced with straight water and Prestone flush. I've been driving it around with greatly improved temperatures, 190 being just around the top in the 70-75 degree weather. I've noticed some black oily smelling crap float to the top of the coolant reservoir, doesn't feel like oil but smells similar to it + coolant. Pitch black, isn't slippery.

Has anyone had anything similar to this? I don't believe it's engine oil, no loss and no coolant in the oil, and no water loss noticeable after around a week of driving.

Maybe it is something the flush brought up?

Cheers

If it's not oil might be old rubber/ plastic that's broken down. That's all speculation of course.

Not sure about that but is it okay to run with water and flush?

Is the flush anti-corrosive and does it raise the boiling point of the water? Might want to add some water water just in case.

Most flushes are short term use only. I would be concerned about black crap coming out of my cooling system.

My suggestion is drain, flush with water only then refill with only water again. Drive the same mile see if the black comes back
