Default 04 Land Rover Discovery ll adding a manual gauge

good morning, I am just finishing up a blown out oil pump an front cover project on my 04 Land Rover Discovery ll 4.6 and I would like to put in a manual oil pressure gauge as well. 1st question where is the best place to install the fitting on the front cover? An 2nd question is where has anyone put the actual gauge? I don't think a under dash mount bracket and gauge will look right in my Rover. It's not an old Jeep or muscle car an the look won't do it any justice. Was hoping someone had ideas or pics of how they installed one an it looks clean. I don't suppose there is a factory gauge option location in the dash that mine didn't come with? Any help would be appreciated thank you

Most guys use a pod on the drivers side a pillar. I used a sandwich plate and digital, but I only hook it up to check after oil changes.

really, only for oil changes? It doesn't worry you with the history of oil pump failure on the Land Rover Discovery ll motors, just an oil light almost cost me an entire motor. Usually once the light comes on it's over

@Greg Salmon Oil pump failures other than the early 03's are not common at all. With our style of pump if it fails catastrophically you will get not any warning that matters. What I am concerned with is proper pressure after an oil change or a change in engine noise, it literally takes 2 minutes to hook my gauge up if I need an emergency check on the trail.

I purchased an MTX digital gauge for oil pressure and temp. Still need to install it. One of the forum members suggested to sacrifice the left side vent. Thinking that may be direction to go in if I could have an interior shop build a nice surround for it.

well I have an 04 an my oil pump not only went out, it exploded the outer pump gear and shattered the front cover. I had had no warning or signs of any problem. It's almost back together, I am hoping the bearings are still ok. I truly believe I shut it off in time. We will see

ya hope your engine is still ok,

i had good luck with glowshift guages they are cheapo but look half decent and work, but i never hooked one up to a disco, like richard said its not very common for these oil pumps to blow, but the gears do wear, i had a 03 and just replaced it for maintenance purposes

I have a sandwich adapter for pressure and temp (worthwhile to watch too, if you drive in the mountains in summer) and use torque on a phone via bluetooth. This requires a bluetooth adapter for the sensors. I built my own, but maybe they are available commercially somewhere.

I did a sandwich adapter and ran a SS braided line into the cabin.
