Default 1 week after brake pad replacement,,,

and the rears are squealing so bad upon braking it is embarrassing to drive.

i used a ton of spray on brake quiet and used the 3M shim pad that also is supposed to deaden the sound, but it is worse then the original pads. my guess is the rear discs need to be swapped. i was shocked to see how small they are and that they are not vented. kind of lame on rovers part to have a TC system that uses the brakes and then to make the rears so small.

anywho i had a credit at A.B. so they are sending me out new rotors. hope this cures my case of the screams from under my rover.

What pads did you use..

I thought vented and slotted rotors were ment to expell the outgassing of the pads created at high temperature.. Could they really have any bearing on noise during normal use??

i used ebc pads front and rear.

thats the stock front discs are vented. i do not mean slotted and drilled. big difference,,,

the vented rotors vent heat from the surface and prevent warping. the rear stock discs are much smaller then the front and non vented thus more prone to heat warp and glazing.

Surprising to hear that about your pads, EBC promotes quiet, good stopping dutless pads.
Let us know how it turns out.

yes they do. i have used EBC's on other vehicles in the past. the fronts from all accounts are fine. but the rears are really waling. i am betting from either the tiny stock unvented rear discs being warped or glazed over and the new pads are not able to "bite" well

Sand paper, sand the rear disc's and then the new pads will seat and stop squeling.
