Default 180 Thermostat Install - Fail!

So just installed the Motorad 180 thermostat and guess what, temps went up to 212 in short period of time. This is not my first thermostat to install so I know it was installed correctly and I correctly bled the system.

So I took the old one and the new 180 put in a pot of water with a thermostat. Old one began to open close to normal operating range.

The new Motorad 180 did not even start to open until 210. Normally would just put the old one back in but the rubber seal between the upper and lower housing is hanging out and causing a slight leak. So my wife is picking one up from the dealer on her way home. Surprisingly it costs about what I paid for the Motorad 180 on eBay.

Great. I just ordered one 2 days ago. Hope mine isn't from the same production run! You should be fine, I'll bet they'll give you your money back AND pay for all the shipping!

Who did you order yours from? I sent the seller on eBay a message and am waiting to hear back from them. We will see.

Well just inspected the thermostat I took off, I ordered it last year when I changed all my hoses. It was in a box marked Eurospare. However it is stamped on the side MotoRad. This is the one the ruber gasket is loose on.

So for now I'm not impressed at all with MotoRad.

I'm not sure, I think the actual grey one with the soft spring might be. However the ones sold on ebay are pictured grey but they are actually cream in color. The only place I know to get the true soft spring ones are in the UK. I sent Justin over at Lucky8 an email to see which ones he has.

Well Mike, I guess I'm the lucky one. I hope this isn't a trend.
