Default 180F Thermostat Y/N

Getting ready for all new hoses, thermostat and expansion tank cap and wondering if there is any reason (an argument) as to why you should NOT install a 180F thermostat? My temps (according to the Ultragauge) are mid-high 190s hwy and mid 200s sitting at a traffic light (on a warmer day will peak at 206.6). I'm running the green stuff.

Most threads (that I've come across) show posts of how much someone's temps have dropped after installing a 180F thermostat, but not much of anything as to whether or not (in all situations) this is a good thing. Just want to make sure/understand before I order/install.

It may not be a big deal either way, but wanted to ask anyway.

Both BP Utah and Rovers North carry this one...

We too have them at Lucky 8.

Do a search and see who sold them first.

$75/shipped.

the only times I've heard people caution about t-stat's are the guys who have done the inline by-pass, but not about the 180 specifically. I'm in South Florida and run a 180. Hwy temps in the 180's, around town in the 190's, highest I've seen is 210 idling, after driving, on a 90+ degree day.

Not sure if it's on their site, but search without the G because that's not the right number.

Your MPG's will likely drop as the engine won't be operating at it's happy temps. But that small difference in mileage is more than made up in the benefit of having that engine run cooler.

Go with the genuine Land Rover version, the one with the "G" at the end of the part number, i.e., PEL500110G

Yes you must have it especially in Florida. I am north of you in Ga (still hot as hell in Summer) and it will help keep the temps a little lower.
