Default 1998 Disco with engine compression issue

Hello to all.. I bought my Disco about two weeks ago... I am new to the ways of the rover, but from what I hear it can be problematic.. This is the 4.0 - V8i model engine with just over 70K miles and two days after I bought it the "check engine" light came on. I took it to a machanic and he said that cylinder #2 missed fired and I should replace the wire. Well, I replaced the wire, and it still stayed on and it seemed to be running a bit ruff at idle. I then replaced the plugs and it improved but not quite all the way. I had the compression tested on all the cylinders and found that all but #2 where in the 120psi to 125psi range, but #2 was consistant to 80psi to 85psi. The machanic then look into it further and noticed that the drivers side of the engine head had been replaced, but its the passenger side I seem to have a problem with. Anyone have any suggestions as to my next step.. I took it back to the dealer I bought it from and they are saying have have two other bad wires, but what worries me is the compression. Is this normal? Thanks for the help in advance.......

Default RE: 1998 Disco with engine compression issue

The low compression #'s indicate sticking Exhaust valves. A common problem in older Disco's.
