Default 1999-2002 D2 Headlight fog.

Hey, could anybody help me fix the build up of moisture in my drivers side headlight, it has been fine up until I took the disco through a car wash, it is now very foggy. It’s 2001 D2, I had already replaced the passenger side with a new light because of fogging.

Remove the lamp from the housing and then the housing from the vehicle to let it dry out. Water is getting in there somehow so inspect it for cracks and especially where the lens is sealed to the housing and the rubber boot at the back. If you find anything I would seal it up with some RTV. I had a turn signal light in which water was getting in to, I found out that water was running down the wire and dripping in on the back side of the lamp. I rigged up a little drip loop and the problem seems to be fixed.

Get a little dessicant packet like they use in shipping shoes, open the back of the headlight, tear it open, drop the beads in there. They will absorb it.

Don't the 99-02 headlights actually have a replaceable rubber/foam(ish) seal? It looks to be avail as a spare part. I've never changed it myself on this model (I've resealed 03/04 with silicone)... but this might be what you need. See diagram, #6.

^^that could be the issue or the sealant between the glass and the housing has decayed and is letting moisture in. Resealing headlights is really simple but appears kind of daunting at first as its very odd to put a head light in the oven the first time haha
