Default Engine running rough and code P0305

I am new to the forum as a member but have been here for info many times(incredible amount of info).I own a 2000 Disco II which I bought in 2002.It now has 84000 miles on it.Thanks to the forum I battled the three amigos and won, also found that the oil in a K&N air filter was too much for my MAF(lost that one). Now on to my current problem.when I start the vehicle cold it seems to run fine for about two minutes and then it goes to a rough idle and throws a P0305 misfire. From all of the great info from everyone it seemed like plugs and wires.I changed the plugs(ngk)and before I removed all of the skin from my hands I changed number 5 plug wire only(yes they are magnacor 8mm).Unfortunately,after clearing the P0305 and starting up,the same thing happened. Also I thought I heard a slight pop just before it went rough and threw the code(could be me it`s 1:05 A.M and I`m still working on it.Any help would be greatly appreciated....

hello, 1st thing to do is put new champion plugs in the engine. they just run the best and we see more missfires from engines with plugs other then champions. 2nd thing is to replace ALL of the wires, this system has this wires and plugs paired. so a missfire on 1 could be caused by 6 or 8-5 or 4-7 or 3-2. we never use anything other then champion plugs in your year and model and we never do just 1 wire, always sets.
I hope this helps. Tanke care.

I had the same issue with missfires, it was a plugwire that was fault. It looked good on the visual, but checking it through a voltmeter it failed. The connector had come apart at the end from the wire.

Bosch is also a plug if it were needed, might want to remove it and see if you cracked the porcelin, if so replace it and then install the rest of your wires.
If you want a little guidance on replacing the wires, shout.
If the problem persists get back to me.

O.K. changed all of the plug wires and plugs, cleared the code and started it up.It once again ran fine for a couple of minutes, then the check engine light started to flash and I could feel a dead miss.then the check engine light went solid and it seemed to be firing on all eight .Then on the same test drive the check engine light started flashing again and it stalled.Scanned it again and got P0300 and P0305.HELP

after seeing everything you have done and with the full set of wires installed I would say you might have a sticking valve on #5. Have you been running high grade fuel? I would try a can of BG's 44K cleaner in a full tank of gas and see what you have after that. That will clean the injectors and valves. We have had good results with this problem. Need any more help let us know.
