Default 1999 D2 w/Isuzu Diesel engine and Transmission

Found this very interesting. This guy stuck an Isuzu Diesel engine and transmission in a Disco 2

I'll give him an "A" for effort. Seems cool, but I'm sure it's not close to being worth the money he's sunk into it. And as cool as it is.... A 15 yr old, non-running truck is still worth less than a set of good tires. (which I'm sure he wants more than that)

Not a chance it'll get 40mpg, unless he's referring to it staying on that trailer. Look at that awful rear bumper...jeeeez

That's the first thing I noticed was the rear bumper...terrible. It's a great concept, but once I read the part about the seats being relocated etc I would have lost interest anyway. There is probably a reason for no interior shots..

The TD5 DII gets 35mpg on the highway, the TDI DI also gets 35mpg on the highway.
So 40mpg could be possible, not likely, especially not with all of the added weight.
No matter what it wont be worth what he's going to be asking for it.

Good god look at the *** on that thing! That's ruddy awful!

Sounds a lot more cobbled together than I would be willing to deal with. Good idea, bad execution.

The ad for this truck was bouncing around here before. Looks like a definite project for the next owner. I'll give him credit though for getting it that far. How many diesel build threads have we seen that ultimately go nowhere. At least this one ran. Not sure how well, though. I definitely like the intercooler stuffed into the underhood insulation approach.
