Default 1999 Discovery II

Like I said, I am considering purchasing a pre-owned 1999 disco. I am new to this and am wondering if anyone has any advice on what to look for. Are there any items/components that commonly malfunction?

The vehicle I am considering has 64,000 miles on it.

I guess any general advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's a series II ... I would be using it as my primary vehicle. But, also for some playing. I used to drive an 03 Chevy Silverado diesel... I'm pretty handy when it comes to standard vehicle repairs (brakes, oil, belts, etc.).

From what I have been reading, these vehicles seem to be finicky. The one thing that will prevent me from moving forward with this deal is if they are consistently unreliable. Which I don't feel is the case. I can deal with minor things here and there... I am not crazy to think that a 60K mile vehicle will drive like brand new...

I have a 99 D2 with just under 90,000 miles on it, yes it has had a couple of issues, nothing that I would expect from anyones elses 4wheeler.
The mileage on that that is quit low, BIG PLUS, probably will need to put a few bucks into it in the form of maintance items. There re only two items to check, see if the head gaskets have ever been replaced or if they are leaking and if thee front drive shaft hasn't had the u-joints replaced yet, they will need to be done.
If you want more info, call me.

Hey, Mike, thanks for the tips. Sorry for the delay in responding, had to go out of town for work... Anyhow... Am still looking at a couple different options. Have found 3 used Discos, all 2000's or 01's, with about the same mileage... I'll keep in touch and let you all know how it turns out.
