Default 2" lift with 16x7 wheels and 235/85 tires?

I'm finishing up my service and mods to bring her back up to near showroom glory, so now I got mods on my mind. I've been doing some research and have come up with lift/wheel/tire combo that I think will work. I wanted to see what you guys think.

Will a 2" lift, 16x7 wheels and 235/85 tires work? I plan to do as much wheelin' as the Disco will take but will be driving this on highways and city streets most of the time.

That would work, but why not run 265's on 8" wheels for more ground contact and a possibly better over all ride. By the way, most of the tire manufactures are or have discontinued making 235's.
Who's lift are you planning on?

235/85r16 have not been discontinued in any brand or model of tire that is popular. I'm not exactly sure how this keeps coming up. I think it had something to do with when the km2 came out people couldn't get the old tire and BFG said that size was discontinued. But it was only discontinued in the old tread pattern.

Discontinued? Not from what I've found. There are plenty of choices. The tough part is finding 7 inch wheels. If you are buying aftermarket then you should be good but the only OEM wheels that are 7 inches wide are the steel spares that came in the early P38 Range Rovers. As for performance, wider may work out better for the rocks and desert but in the mud a narrower tire works great. Just take a look at any of the Camel Trophy vids on youtube.

I run 265/75/16 guard dogs and like them a lot. Great on and off road. What, if any, advantages are there to running a thinner tire with the same diameter?

That was something I heard a year or so back and thought it was true. Just went on Discount tire and Tire Rack, though and it looks like a less selection then in the past, I may be wrong.

Not sure yet on the lift, haven't gotten that far in my research. Any suggestions?

My second choice on tires is 265/75. I was a bit concerned with the width though, thinking there may be some rubbing under articulation? Any experience with that MC04DII?

I've seen some 16x7 wheels listed on CL coming off of D2's. Are those not common?

I've never see a factory 16x7 alloy DII wheel.

Not exactly d2, but close enough.

Not pretty, but that's cool for sure.
