2" OME Lift. 235/85/16?
So, I am not doing anything until later in the summer, but I am thinking and planning now. I would like to do a 2" lift and I hear OME is the best. I would go with the HD kit since I also plan on getting some bumpers, a winch, and maybe some sliders.
So, with that in mind, tires... I have 29" Grabber AT2's on it now but of course that would change once the truck is lifted. I have two sizes in mind: Wrangler Duratrac 235/85/16 and Wrangler Duratrac 265/75/16; both a 31.7" tire. I would prefer the 235/85's.
On the Goodyear spec sheet, the 235/85/16's state the approved rim width is 6.0-7.5" and the measured rim width is 6.5". What is the rim width on stock D2 16" rims? 8"? Would I need to buy new, narrower rims to fit the 235/85/16's? if so, direct me to some appropriate rims please!
Also, a load index of 3,040 lbs per a wheel should be more than enough off road even with all the bumpers and winch right? The 265/75's start off with a load rating of 2,470 lbs, would that be fine too?
Lastly, with a 31.7" tire, would re-gearing be necessary? I have heard a lot of people on this forum say they are fine with 31.5" tires on stock gearing, I'm just looking for more input. Keep in mind the narrower 31.7" will weigh less than the 265/75, but still a 31.7" tire. I don't want to lose too much, but at the same time I do highway driving as this is my DD, so I don't my rpm's too high while on the highway.
I appreciate all the help in advance!
