2 Questions
Hi everyone. I have 2 quick questions.
1. I had my mechanic change my plug wiresto Magnecor, which I supplied to him. But they fit pretty tight...there is hardly any play and one is literally pulled tight across the valve cover. Is this how they should fit?
2. Can I replace the u-joints myself or is it a royal pia?
Thanks!
Jamie

1. I'd take a close look at the wires. He may not have installed the correct ones to the respective cylinder. See if some of the wires have a lotof slack.
2. Removing the driveshaft is a fairly easy task, but you'll need a press to remove the u-joints. I suggest you remove the driveshaft, purchase your u-joints and take them to a machine shop. It will be muchless then taking the whole task to the dealership.

The U-joints that are the bear are the ones in the double cardan joint. The centering ball is tough if you haven't done one. I agree with the previous posts, take it in and let them do it. Might not be that much more to let them pull the shaft as well....
I had the same issue with my wires. All are connected correctly and there is very little slack. Had to modify some routing. As to the shafts, had a driveline shop do mine, dropped them off, new joints, centering ball kit and nipples in the shafts, greased out the doorfor $216.00.
They do fit pretty tight against the valve covers. They should all be clipped into the wirelooms so that they aren't actually touching the covers though.
If you've never done u-joints, don't bother. If you're looking for areal challenge and have the time, then yes you can. Then thesecond time you need to doit, itwon't be a royal pia.

The neapco u-joints are out of stock at the one place I found everything, any other suggestions on where to find them.. it's was something lame like Parts America I had tried to order from, their shipping costs were insane. 2 day shipping within the USA on less than 15lbs for $75 or so....

My local dealer is installing them tomorrow morning and if the tech thinks they're too tight I'm gonna end up having them install the crappy stock leads [>:]
80242 looks right, though I'm not 100%.
Any good parts store should have the joints, I wouldn't pay for shipping.Ipicked up3 neapco's anda spicer centering joint for about $75 at advance auto parts (which is basically parts america - they've changed names a lot). Napa also had them.
