My belt popped off my D2. Noticed belt tensioner idler was at slight misalignment. Took off and tightens. The bolt broke off attachment point… see pic! Is this fixable? Welding new piece on back?

 

Ouch. Maybe a junk yard run is in order

Had my local repair guy check it. Replaceable

Been there. Got one a new bracket on eBay for $35 shipped.

 

Do your water pump and other idler pullies while you're at it.

 

I replaced the water pump 1 1/2 to 2 years ago. Put a new alternator 3 years ago, idler was 4 years ago. Thought idler was warped but the alternator plate appeared to crack and throw idler off. I’m not a mechanic but Owning a D2, I had to become one.

plan on selling my 1964 series IIA 88. So I can start a new project. I’m hour south of Memphis

 

I love my D2 but I do get worried driving long distances. The alternator bracket broke .. I was in my yard. It’s never left me stranded. So far
