2000 DII won't start, replaced the crank sensor
Not a good way to start my DII ownership. Start it up after the prev owner leaves, open the hood, and the truck dies, like it ran out of gas.
I've searched the forums, etc. and I just replaced the cam sensor. Bought one from Neilio Rover for $135, didn't know that we could be these at AutoZone, but it's close to where I am right now.
Anyway, after replacing the crank sensor, the truck still won't start. Tried resetting the alarm, pulled the hot off the battery for 60 seconds, reset the inertia switch, and did the turn the key twice and open the door.
NOTHING. Still won't start.
Anyone have any tips or suggestions? I really am at a lost. I pulled a plug wire, not getting any spark; squirted gas into the throttle body, nothing.
I'm at a complete loss and I really don't want to tow it to the dealer tomorrow and spend who knows how much.
Thanks,
Patrick

Sorry, just the crack sensor. We tested a spark plug grounded against the block, shot fuel into the throttle body, pushed the button on the inertia switch against the bulkhead, and tried to reset the alarm. We also checked all of the fuses (they were all good).
We're at a total loss as to what else could be wrong. I'm probably going to have it towed to the Rocklin CA dealer on Monday morning to have them look into it.
Anybody have any ideas? Would really appreciate the help!
Thanks,
Patrick

I dont know then man, sorry.
The crank sensor controls spark, the cam sensor controls injector timing.
The alarm should have shut down everything, no engine cranking, nothing.
The inertia switch cuts power to the fuel pump.
I'm out of idea's, sorry.
Please post when you get it figured out.

Ok...so here's an update. Went by the dealer in Rocklin. Crank Trigger is OK and reading strong, plug wires are SHOT, prev owner put in the wrong plugs, but here's the best part...there is juice getting to the coils, but the coils are f-d up and probably DOA, but it may also be the ECU. They are going to pull the intake and manually test the coils and go from there. My guess is I'll be $2k into the car before I even get to drive it.
Welcome to the family right?
On the bright side, I'm still excited to get it running and start driving it. Hopefully it will be ready for Tahoe in weekend after next. (keeping my fingers crossed)

Thanks Spike!
Another update:
Coils are good, spark plugs and wires are being replaced. The ECU is dead, and a used one is on the way to the dealer to be reflashed and installed. Turns out I should be out of pocket @ $1500. Just like my M3, it's always $1500 if I can't fix it myself.
I should be picking up my truck this weekend!
