Default 2000 Disco 2 sunroof question

I have a 2000 Disco 2 with no sunroofs stock.I have a chance to get a complete set of sunroofs with the ecu, switches, harness from a 1997 Disco 1.Is this compatable with the 2000 Disco 2Does the harness to the turck plug in the same place on both trucks and is it the same plug end?Any ideas?

I think I have read that the roofs are different between the trucks with sunroofs and the ones without so you might want to research that. Installing D1 components on a D2 seems like a chore but I have no experience with that. Good Luck.

Does anyone know if the harness to the roofs is only for 12 volt power or if it needs input from the computer?? Could we just put it in as an independant module?

Nothing from a DI is compatible with a DII and vise versa.
If they were DII sunroofs then you would be good to go.

The sunroofs also talk to the BCU (body control unit) in the D2, and the D1 has none of these systems etc, so no the loom from a D1 will be no good, how ever the car will I "suspect" will be pre wired for the sunroofs (they are for most things)

Also you will need a new headlining which is molded for sunroofs, and you cannot use a D1 headlining as the roof is shorter than a D2

Your best bet is to forget the D1 stuff and look for D2 bits.

So if the D2 uses contact with the BCU and the D1 has none of those systems I might be ok with the wiring. Perhaps the loom for the D1 is just power to the system. I would get the ecu that controls both roofs and the switches for that truck. The seller is going to test the system on the bench for me to see if it works outside the car.

The headliner is a different issue. Have to think that over whether it is worth the risk of making the stock one work under the new roof bezels.

Just thinking through the challenge with help of the forum. Not committed yet.

You could just put the glass in and leave them closed.
Or look at www.roverlandparts.com, all of their stuff is used.
