Default 2000 disco

it will crank and run when the engine is cool but after 20 min. or so it wil stop running and want crank again until it has cooled down completely. i checked to see if it had any ignition fire to the plugs and it did not have any fire after it stop running.

it will turn the starter over and spin the engine, but it does not have any spark coming out of the plug wire when checked. when it sits and cools down it wil crank up and run for about 15 min, then stop running and want start back up for severel hours.

Ok well I have bad news for you. My disco did the exact same thing it turned out to be the Crank Position Sensor andValve Cover Gasket where not working properly. I would be driving and it would just cut off and the battery and oil light would come on. The first time it happened in a McDonald's parking lot, i was in a rush and got picked up and left it, when I came back it started and about 20 min down the road it just cut off. After that I had it towed and my indy mech fixed it for around $1000 and he was cheaper than the Dealer. Your situation sounds JUST like mine so I'm guessing thats what it is. Its a pain I know but its either fix it or it will just keep doing that.

If the crank sensor is failing, it would shut off the fuel injectors not the spark.
Crank sensors cost $65 plus about 2 to 3 hours, boy did they zing you at $1000.

Well there was more than that something else had to be replaced (I will have to check what it was) along with the Crank Position Sensor andValve Cover Gasket, it was a VERY good price compared to what LR was going to charge. His situation sounds just like mine but, your the expert!
