2000 Disco II Possible electrical problem
I have a 2000 Disco II, it's a "SALTY" vin series and has approx 180,000 miles
About a month ago I noticed the truck would feel like it was loosing power, just start slowing down for no apparent reason, then return to normal. A day or two later when I cranked the truck, the gear shift indicator light did not come on, the truck would not shift into gear and none of the window switches or seat controls worked. I heard a faint "pop" and then everything worked just fine.
This has now happened twice and each time I hear what I think must be a short in the center console. I've noticed that I can apply a slight amount pull on the center console ( in the direction of the driver seat) when it appears that the truck is malfunctioning, as described above, and suddenly everything seems to work.
Is there some wiring in the console that, if shorting out, would cause these issues? Where/What should I be looking for?
Thanks all.
