2000 Discovery II Possible Buy?
So I went to look at a 2000 Disco II with 84K for only $4100, and liked it except for two things.
First of all, when I FLOORED the Discovery II, it was super slow. Like, no acceleration, and I kept flooring it until 40mph which it then lost a bit of power, but then regained it. Owner said that it seems like it is flooding or something. Also, check engine light was on the whole time, disappeared when power lost, and reappeared afterward.
Second thing, are these the Three Amigos? (TC, ABS, and HC)
Is this a BAD thing?
Besides that, transmission felt good, and 4Lo worked.
I will upload a video of the engine running for 20 seconds, and will upload it quickly.
Opinions please!

I think that is a good price considering the mileage, IF the 3 amigo's came on for something simple like a wheel sensor or just needs new brake pads and there are no major fault codes from the SES light.
Also, it will not necessarily need a new head gasket if the coolant system has been well maintained.

In SoCal, you can get deals on DIIs all day long. I bought a 2001 with 74k miles, that had had the head gaskets done, with full maintenance records for $4000. I still put some bucks into it to get it up to my standards and my daughter was taking it to school. Since then, I have seen dozens of trucks in the $4 to $5k range with low miles, in great shape. In most cases, you are going to have to put money in to your new car for this and that. In my opinion, there are too many deals out there to buy a truck with the issues that you listed for the price that you indicated. Saving a little on the initial purchase price doesn't necessarily mean that it is the best long term investment. Check out the craigslist listings in SoCal or Phoenix and see what comes up. All the best. Phil
