Even though your trk is full time four wheel drive, each wheel is able to turn at different speeds when turning corners. Locking them together keeps them all turning at the same speed.

Not "quite" true, it only locks the 2 axles together, the 2 wheels on "each" axle can still spin differently through the diff's. This is why lockers were invented. The only time all 4 wheels are ALL spinning at the same rate is if you have a CDL locked in and an axle locker in both front and rear axles. TC in a Disco 2 near enoughperforms the same task

Any purchase of a D2 requires you to get the front drive shaft replaced a.s.a.p.

Urban Panzer has a great write-up on installing the CDL linkage from an '04, it's what I used for my install. The other write-ups I've seen have been for the D1 CDL linkage.

I know that the wheels on each axle still spin at different rates when you turn corners and such, but as always I was just trying to keep it simple.

If you can buy a truck with the service records you will be better off. The one major thing to look at would be the head gaskets and that goes for all Rover not just the 2000 Disco's. Are they leaking, have they ever been changed?
What do you plan to do with this truck?
Mike
I have a random question. Just bought a 2000 disco 2 and when I hit my brakes the reverse lights turn on and brake, and directional on the passenger side just turn off. I Already did check the bulbs... Any thoughts?
Thank you
