I have been noticing a vibration only on acceleration above 30mph it has been getting worse. Also in reverse there is a slight chirping sound . My drive shaft is still factory. Is there any way to determine if it is the drive shaft. Can II take it off and drive and see if it goes away. Also if I do need a drive shaft can I just buy a $300 of ebay. I drive mostly on the pavement. If off road usually sand or very well kept hunting roads.

 

If you have the CDL on your transfer case you can remove it and lock it and test. Most likely it is that our a bad tire balance. Some 2001 have the cdl and some don't. Won't know until you look.

 

If it was tire balance when I let of of the throttle at 30-50mph it should still vibrate but as soon as I take my foot off the gas it stops.

 

Pull the driveshaft. If its still factory you need to replace it anyways. Its more than likely that.

 

Well just showed it to my knowledgeable mechanic AKA father in law. Took him to seconds to tell me not to drive it home. The U/joints are shot. Going to rebuild this weekend.

 

I said it most likely was the drive shaft, the tire balance was another possible issue. And your dear old paw proved me right.

If you have the CDL you can remove the drive shaft lock the cdl and drive it home.

Grew up in a service department so I know if something sounds different get it checked out. Do any of yall know if a 33.9/11.6r20 will fit with the 3" terrafirma? I know it's not your style. It's a Florida thing. I have on order 33/10.9r20 but have to wait 3 to 5 weeks to get the wheels made with the correct offset to avoid having spacers and may call and go bigger. No serious off reading no rocks no hills it's florida.
