Default 2001 SD7 battery drain

I have a friend who's 2001 DiscoII SD7 has had a battery drain for the past 1.5yrs. I checked her alternator and everything there is fine. She has to pull the battery cable off every time she parks for an extended period of time or it will completely drain. She claims she hears nothing running or no lights are staying on, is there any other common issues that I might could take a look at to help here?? Thanks for any advice

Go over the truck with a fine tooth comb and make sure that everything that should shut off is shutting off properly. You may want to find a quiet place and use a mechanics stethoscope to hear if you can hear anything unusual when the truck is shut off. How old is the battery? An old battery could be drained while sitting for an extended period by something small like the radio memory or the clock.

X2 on that one. Check the battery. Then carefully start pulling fuses and check for amp draws across them.

It isn't good to keep pulling the cable. It could throw an SRS fault that will have to be reset at the dealer.

I know you say its a 2001, and it "might" not be affected, but its worth checking.

Get in the car and close all the doors, switch on the ignition, then turn of the ignition and operate the electric windows, the windows "should" become inoperative after 45 +/- 2 secs, if they are still able to be used (work) after this period of time, then theres your battery drain and the car needs re-configuring by the dealer.

its a long shot, but this was a problem in early Disco 2's

I read on Land Rover Monthly that you can have a battery drain if the radio is shut-off in the CD mode,, the changer stay's on.

You need to find a shop that knows how to check each circuit for a draw.

Some DII's have been know to have problems with the SLABS unit staying powered.
The CD changer cycling through all the disc's trying to load and running the battery down.
Like these guys said, park it inside a quiet garage and listen for any noises.
You might need a kid to listen with you...they have better hearing than us older people.

The battery has been replaced 3 times over the course of the year and a half. So the battery is new, but I will try to run some hearing tests on it with some better ears than I have..
