Default 2001 Transfer Case CDL?

Newbie here. Looking to purchase first Land Rover. I heard that not all 2001 Discovery 2s have the transfer case with CDL ready to be connected. How do I check before I purchase the car?

Welcome to the forum. My 2001 has a the CDL nipple and no linkage.
Crawl under the Disco below the transfer case and closer to the front driveshaft, reach upward (it'll be dirty) and feel around for the CDLnipple.

CDL highly overrated - not needed unless you intended to do serious rock crawling.

I found that it made a big difference in sand.

I feel the same way. When I was looking for another D2 to buy I specifically looked for an early D2 with the CDL. Now since I’ve had Myrtle for the past 4 years, I use her as a daily driver and only took her off road once at Tixover quarry in Peterborough. https://m.facebook.com/pages/Tixover...85213061511245
I didn’t use the CDL though I have to crawl underwith a 10mm wrench to engage it.

CDL makes a huge difference if you're doing any moderate-serious offroading in my experience.

It’s worth it just to see the diff lock indicator light up.
