Default 2002 DII Crank Sensor Location

Where is the crank sensor located? How can I access it? Based on my P0335 code, it needs replaced. I have another on the way but have through the top of the engine compartment as well as underneath and not found anything that resembles the picture of the part.

Any helpful hints?

My mechanic (see last weekend's post) said he would install the part and not charge labor. I just moved my LR so my kids could play basketball and it just isn't running right. Mechanic is 20 mins down the road and I am not sure if she'll make it. I really don't have the time to make the repair, but I have even less to stand on the side of the road broken down.

So after not finding the code and charging you for it, are you saying he doesn't know where the crank sensor is??
Back side the engine under the drivers side cylinder head.
Thet only cost in the low $80 range so don't let him screw you again.

It is on the driver side bell housing with a cover over it that looks like a small motor housing similar to a starter motor, but much smaller. Two 7mm nuts to remove the cover then two more to remove the sensor. The plug runs straight up from there, and is very difficult to get to unless you have very small hands and forearms. I had to bend the wheel well a little to get my arm through the side instead of going up between the frame and the exhaust pipe.
