Footwell? It that different from the box under the steering wheel? The rover is at the shop so I am not sure how to get into it, Picture?

As you stated, it's the box under the steering wheel secured by 2 plastic screws.

That's the one.

You can remove it, take it apart, and spray with electronics cleaner...I use Deoxit. It's not a permanent fix but if it runs after you do that you can buy some time to find a good used one.

still at shop waiting for parts to interchange. He says he has someone that has parts so not purchase new yet. I think the guy is on vacation right now. will check with him today.
Don't know if he has looked for the short-discharge

after many months the rover is running. changed out the fuse box under the dash and they got it to run. That's all I am saying as I done want to jinx me.
every time I say that things are working well something goes wrong.
