Default 2002 Discovery, overheating

I am looking at a Discovery 2002 with 90K. Low coolant and ho heat out of the heater. The guage was reading almost hot just sitting and idleing for about 20 mintues. No water in the oil and no water/antifreeze out the exchaust pipe. No noise or leaking from the water pump. ??

Looking to buy this truck?
WALK AWAY!!
If it is already yours top off the coolant and have the cooling system pressure tested.
Could be any number of things.
Any where from a $5 fix to a $1500 fix.

Agree with Spike, unless you can steel it. How much are they asking for it?

They are asking $5K and will come down some. Nothing in stone.

Ask them to fix the coolant leak, then buy a different truck.
IF you do buy that truck AFTER they fix it, make them throw in a 3 month 3,000 mile warrenty.

Thanks for the feed back. They will call me tomorrow afternoon. I will post what they say and are willing to do. I feel the same $4K and they repair.

I recieved a call from the LR dealer. The price is frim at $5K and it was the head gaskets. The head gaskets replacement will cost additional$1,800.00. The bottom line will be about $7K. I have passed on this deal.

Thanks again on the feed back.
