Pretty sure I saw the same truck on FB Marketplace a few years ago and the seller was looking to get ~20k.

I’ve got a soft spot for Kalaharis. I’m pretty full up on the D2s I have, otherwise I’d be shopping for one. Sadly, most are clapped out and used up, and ‘02 being the worst year for a D2 in my opinion. But this one looks to be in pretty good shape and by and large unmolested, which is of course the best way to get a D2.

As of my typing this, it’s at $7500, so I wonder what it will go for.

Aye, bummer it's been in California's equivalent of salt country for so long.

...I want that grille.

I had specifically removed my 02 Kalahari grill to preserve it, then someone went into my shop in the dark to get a part as I wasn't home at the time, and somehow knocked it onto the floor. I wasn't told anything about it so I was literally like WTF when I went into the shop and found it on the floor broken into bits. To this day that person still has NEVER acknowledged they destroyed it........ I sold my Kalahari at the end of 2025 back to the guy I bought it from. I miss it, but at the same time if I could buy back some of my vehicles that would really be cool so I'm happy it's back with who loved it before me. I had her 10 years, and not once did it break down, or give me any issues. She got a lot of cool upgrades along the way like the 04 CDL setup, and lots of custom stuff I did. Hope to see it at an event or even driving down the road one day.

People always go oh a Kalahari is just a yellow D2 and nothing more. It's so much more than that. It was a very well thought out special edition. The wheels, the front bumper, the lamp guards, the grill, the interior, and 3 color options (yellow to me is still the sexiest).

What is special about a Kalahari grille?

A white Kalahri came through a local boneyard in June 2022. It had the proper plaque under the bonnet . The upholstery and wheels were correct (I pulled the wheels for Alex M), and I ended up with the Safari Gard sliders.

I took only two pics of it, Here's a cropped version showing the grille. To me, it looks just like the grille from my '99. Please help me understand. Thanks.

(Pics didn't load fyi) Check out the grille in that BaT listing and you'll see the difference. It's a mesh grill rather than slatted, presumably allowing freer airflow. Also appeared as standard on the Saudi models I believe. If the Kalahari at the junkyard didn't have it, then it was replaced for reasons.

That truck in the pic might have had the goodies on it at one time, but someone stole the Saudi style grill, and put a D1 front bumper on it. Special Kalahari only items. Front Bumper with no lower spoiler, Saudi Grill, Unique grey/silver/black interior trim color, unique seats, factory metal rear lamp guards, typhoon wheels (were only offered in that unique color on the D2 Kalahari & D2 LE). Stock 4.0 P38's had those wheels but they were silver. Then it had the SG Rocker Guards as well. I think that's the Kalahari you sent me the plaque from isn't it?

Ken sent the plaque to you, I recall.
