Default 2003 Disco Buying Advice

Hey all,

I'm looking at the linked disco later today and was hoping for some buying advice. My goal is to use to for camping/off road. The BAT listing claims it's had a CDL from 2004 installed, but how can I tell for sure? They claim it has two minor leaks, one at the front oil pan seal and one at the rear main seal. It had the head gasket done last year and everything else looks very clean. What else can I keep an eye out for?

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...-discovery-16/

Thanks in advance for the advice.

from the interior you should be able to move the tcase lever to the left. it will have four positions instead of just 2. many of the conversions also activate the indicator on the dash overwise youll have to get under the rig and look at the tcase
you should have 2 shifter connections to the tcase

Thanks for the information. I'm sure this is situational, but this guy is asking 12k USD. Is that unreasonable?

Your link is to a Dll that sold back in April...for a pretty decent price...in my opinion. I'd of paid that for a clean framed southern truck, with all of those accessories. Love those rims, too.

The BAT auction linked didn't hit reserve, so it didn't sell. OP - how much does the owner want for it?

I think this is a good one -- saw that auction awhile back.

It does look like it has the CDL, btw. Here's how I tell -- On the CDL (04) trucks, you can see the transfer case lever over to the right -- on the trucks without the 04 CDL mechanism, the transfer case lever is basically lined up with the shifter left to right. To engage CDL, you move lever left.

I'd pay 12k for that, seems reasonable.

FYI only thing I'm not loving about it is how the winch is mounted/how they cut the front grille around the winch. Minor though. Really sharp and well-sorted Disco!
