For a DI it is pretty straight forward, only a few minor mods and the TDI ECU.

On a DII putting a DI engine in is alittle more work.

This is 30 minutes from me...

:O

This will only work in a DI..wont work well at all in a fat DII. defender yes and works best for ... I have been talking to alot of peopel who have done swaps and there is a sh$tload of things to make it work. I myself am looking at doing a TD5 for a dII.. the work involved is daughting considering how many corners LR cut on the DI and DI to boot.

Yep that makes me really stupid, as I try to maintain all three.

Why would you go from the original 4.6 to a 4.0?

I would stick with a 4.6 from an '04 if you can find one. You can buy them with a limited warranty for $3500, or pick up a used one from a wreck like I did. I'm in the midst of swapping it right now....as I type this (I needed a break). If you're going to swap it yourself, be ready for some serious fun (not really). I have just a few more steps and I'll be pulling out the old engine.
