Default 2003 discovery II SE

my wife was driving the rover one night and she seen someone pulled over by the road she said she pulled over to ask them if they needed help and all of the sudden her rover died.she could not start it, so she let it sit for awhile and then tried to start it and it started.she got out and talking to the people and the rover died. then she got back in it and started it back up again drove it home and parked it . the next day it started back up again but as i was pulling it out of the garage it died. i couldnt get it started. so i managed to get some help from a friend to push it back in the garage.later on that night my wife came home and said the rover started again . i dont know what the problem could be does anyone know. please help.

Sounds like your crank sensor is bad. This is very common on DII's.
www.atlanticbritish.com for a new one if you want to install it yourself.

Could be the fuel pump or the cam sensor.
But the crank sensor is the most common and is the cheapest.

spike555 i took the fuel pump out thought it was the problem and tested it with a 12 volt battery and it ran, dont know what the pressure should be, but i ordered a new fuel pump anyway just in case its not pumping out enough pressure. and i also have another question were is the fuel filter located ? is it inside the fuel pump or is it that screen on the bottom of the fuel pump?

yep, well thats not all. a buddy of mine as we were taking the gas tank off broke the gas hose that is connected to the pump. so i had to order one new about 100 dollars.

DII's dont have a fuel filter, just the "sock" on the pump. You can replace it. (the sock filter)

DI's have a fuel filter behind the rear passenger wheel.
