I'm really looking for this winch mount like the G4 Discovery so that I can still keep the look of the original bumper.

 

Try searching for the Terra Firma or Bearmach discrete winch mounts.

I also recommend changing out the front springs to a heavy-duty version as the substantial weight of the winch assembly will drop the front end.

I was thinking more on the lines of this.

 

I love the Trek and G4 editions but the exposed winch setup concerns me. Firstly is fully exposed to the elements, so I imagine it wont take long for the metals to rust over, especially if you live in New England or anyplace with cold weather where salt is put on the roads. Next it looks like an open invitation to thieves looking to get a bargain on a new winch! Next what about approach angle? If your in a frontal position there the bumper is close enough to an obsticle like say a boulder, wouldnt that winch location be a mad idea?

I think a better solution is a discrete winch setup thats locked in securly, and not as exposed to the elements and does not overhang on the front bumper. Just my opinion though.

I agree. I'm will as swap the cable with a synthetic line.

 

If you never plan on using your winch, discrete is fine... if you ever plan on using it, this is a bad idea.
You cannot see if your wire/rope is spooling properly, you are just guessing until it is too late. You should always be able to see the wire/rope and spool.
