Default 2004 D2 no start

Went to start the truck this morning after sitting in my garage for 4 months with the battery disconnected and it cranks but no start. My check engine light is on with the two chime warning but my ODB scanner shows no codes which is odd. I have used the Bluetooth dongle on my LR4 to pull codes before and it worked. I’ll be working on this later today but thought I would post this to talk through troubleshooting. I hear the fuel pump turn on when I turn the key.

That is weird, but it seems to me I read something about that somewhere an issue starting after sitting with no battery. I would start simple and check your fuses just in case.

One other thing try turning the key to where you can move the shift lever run through the gear positions a few times and try again, also try neutral instead of park.

Thanks Richard, odd I am not seeing codes but I do have 3 lights on the dash when cranking....check engine, battery and oil. Maybe that’s normal when cranking? Fuses look fine and everything in the truck seems to be functioning as expected. I’ll try neutral and give it a try. Also pressed the inertia switch just in case.

Tried neutral but no luck. The dash indicator shows the correct gear but now the M and S lights are flashing. That could be from the battery getting low from all the cranking. It’s a new battery which I did charge just before trying to start today. That same battery got the truck in the garage under its own power 4 months ago.

hmm check the battery terminals and ground straps, do you have the ability to jump the car? I believe the 3 lights while cranking is normal, I'll check when I run to grab lunch in a little bit.

I can try to jump it but I have a battery charger on it now to top it off again. I cleaned on all terminals and ensured everything was right. The grounds are all accounted for and look ok. I can try to undo the ground connections, clean then up and then reassemble.

Confirmed I have fuel pressure from the test port. Got a nice stream of gasoline. All grounds are connected and in good order. Still no start. I can lock / unlock the truck with the fob and I don’t see the blinking red security light on in the dash.

CPS is a good thought. I have a spare one to try.
