Default 2004 D2 Trail Edition

Hey all. My D2 came with Off road lamps on the front brush guard from Land Rover. On the right side of my gauge cluster under the cruise control switch is the button that turns them on (looks like the fog light button with a 2 on it). Well mine dont work anymore bulbs are good i have no blown fuses, checked them. Somewhere i read there is a ballast for them that goes bad and is located under the hood. Cant find it. Any help with location if any woulld be appreciated Thanks

Could be the Fuse or relay. Did you look at the fuses under the hood?

There are no ballasts on those trucks, only HID's have them.
Have you tried running those lights with your head lights on, if that doesn't work I would sure consider replacing the relay.

I heard this was a ballast too. But Mike probably know what it is.
A few pics of the parts in question. I am scouring the salvage yards to find one. I guess Land Rover had so many issues with these they just dropped them as a part. They are no longer available . I have searched the internet also. I like the way the lights look so I'm looking for a way to use the original light and maybe gutting them, and use better light and control parts.
Let me know if you find out anything I am looking for way to get them going again.
If you look under the hood passenger side near the back you will see the control (blurry pic) beside it there is the relay mine is missing.it the next pic on the bench. If you inspect it it will probably look like it was hot or burned up.
Good luck

I think I read somewhere that they only work with the bright lights on. Might want to try that

Slabrat you are correct. After a little research and testing I found the relay to be the culprit. Expensive relay and hard to find (part# vub501690) Also i found a link to a well written DIY with a couple different ways to go about repairing it. Thank you you helped steer me in the right direction

Search out my posts on this topic. I have 2 Discos with factory lights. On the 2000, I had to cut out the relay under the hood, and instal a relay hooked to the high beams. So, high beams on they were on. On the 2004, they work when they want lol. High beams need to be on, and sometimes they work and sometimes not. No ryhm or reason. I thought I had it figured out but didn't. Try to find my threads on them. I think I had a write up a couple years ago about my relay, and the second a fe month ago about the 2004.
