Default 2004 Disco 2 Oil Problem

So recently my engine oil light has come on and my engine has been making alot of noise, unlike my other 2002 disco this car has been causing me alot of engine problems. The engine turns on and make alot of noise and the oil light turns on, After checking the dipstick its almost as if no oil has been circulated at all. And help would be greatly appreciated oh and its the 4 liter V8 not diesel.

If the oil pump gear is broken then it's possible that your front cover is scored and will not hold oil pressure. You should have it looked at by a machine shop once you open it up.

Yeah...dead oil pump, and if the engine is "making a lot of noise" as you say, it's probably finished. Once the light comes on, it's almost guaranteed to be destroyed if you've driven the vehicle.

^^ Might be true but that doesn't mean you are toast yet.

I've been told three times i needed a new engine. Once due to broken oil pump.

Get the oil pump fixed and check for other damage while you are in there. You could get lucky, or not. but guessing is not good enough.

If you don't do it yourself take it to an independent LR specialist, not a foreign car shop and not the dealer.

After taking the front plate off I found the outer gear is broken in three places, but shouldn't I still be getting oil preasure? I can upload a photo of the gear if need be.

I found a spring under the gear, could this be clogged or something?

The broken ring gear is common i have seen them broke into as many as 5 pieces. The spring on the other hand that is completely different, the only spring i can think of is on the oil return . Post a couple picture of what you found
