Thanks number9. You can research and spend a lifetime on forums before buying a car. Taping over certain lights does not apply to "Buyer Beware" when buying from a dealership. That's an asinine statement. It's highly illegal and could be dangerous when dealing with ABS and traction control. It's an easy fix now that I know what it is.

Taping over the lights like that is more trouble than actually correcting the problem. Sucks, but now you know what to fix.

When buying a vehicle, tell the salesman to FO but ensure you read carefully everything you need to know first and ensure you take someone who knows the vehicle inside out and with a diag tool to read codes. It's all about research, research and more research plus knowledge and diag codes otherwise you are easy meat for a conman salesman whether a small indy, a private person or an LR main agents, if you approach every vendor as being a conman you won't go far wrong in the future.

This is exactly why every time someone asks about what to look for when buying a Disco someone says to check the status of the warning lights at start up.

Should be part of the "I'm about to buy a Disco, what should I look for" sticky.

Hard to prove it was the dealership, they may have received it that way on trade-in or from auction site. So, I wouldn't recommend punching anyone in the face over it...plus, if the used car guys where you're at, are anything like the used car guys here...they're carrying...so, in return for your punch in the face...you may get a bullet in the head...lol. So, be careful.

Just move forward and make the repairs.

Brian.
