Default 2200 RPM Idle

I have a 99 Disco I with the 4.0 I sprayed the Tbody out with carb cleaner yesterday and all was well. I wet to town today and when I started thr Disco to leave the RPMs shot up to around 2200 I tried to trouble shoot with no luck. Reverse at 2200 RPM is not as good thing. Sorry didnt have time to search this forum. I came over from another forum where you make a post and it gets the blank stares and its not just me the reply section tells the tail. Lookinf forward to spending time here. I can tell by the reply section its more active here.

So do you have a stuck throttle cable, a still very dirty t/body or did you get junk into the idle control unit?

The throttle cable is fineeverything looks like itn returns back to the normal position. Should I do some more cleaning? I got the Disco on friday and it had 110000 on the clock. From what I could tell it must have been owned by a gas and go.

befor I went to town I saw a plug unplugged it is located just after the rubber intake hose it looks like it has two 1/4in bolts holding it on and has a four wire connecter on it it is just before the line that comes out of the valve cover. I plugged it back in before I left I have no clue what it was.

What side was the connector on? Did it plug next to the t-body or somewhere else?
Did you get your idle to settle back down?

The idle is still high 22 to 2300 rpm. The connector is just after the intakehose. there are two one is held in with star screws and the other is held in with bolts smaller than 1/4in. I unplugged that connector in question and disconneced the Bat. and let it sit for about 30 min and hooked the Bat. back up and fired it up and the problem is still there.

It is not the IAC.
Try removing both cables, will the idle drop back to normal, if not then make sure the t/plate is closed all the way.

is the T/plate the same thin as the butterfly? I dont have the Disco at work today. I will do it when I get home. When I unplug the connecters should I also unhook the bat.? There is no way the IAC could be stuck because of the crud comming off of the intake? With no engine check light on would it still throw a code?

Yes, they are the same. Quit unplugging connectors before you mess up a pin.
