Default 235/85 vs 265/75?

OK, I've been on here long enough to notice most recommend against running 265/75 on a D1. I currently have 2" lift and 245/75, with no trimming or rubbing at all. I am contemplating getting a 3" lift (and the nessesary mods like caster correction, brake lines, etc) and running either a 235/75 or 265/75.

I know either will require fender trimming. But the only diff between these two sizes is a little over an inch diff in width, same diameter. Does that inch really make that big a difference(no pun intended)? Does anyone here run 265/75 on their d1?

What will make the bigger difference is the type of wheeling you do and the type of tread you'll be running.

Mild wheeling, prob 80% street, and these are the tires i'm getting. With minor trimming, think they'll be ok then?

That is a pretty agressive tread pattern for 80% street. If you are doing a lot of mud, go for narrower, if you are doing trails and streets, go wider.

While I do mostly street, when I do hit the trails, they are mostly mud. I also am cosidering the 235's because I assume they are prob a bit lighter in weight, but they only come in a load range "E", and am afraid they'll ride harsh.

I would put E on over C, especially that tall with that much sidewall.

Thats a ridiculous tire for 80% road driving. Looks more like a swamper tire than anything.

Why not buy a more aggressive A/T like goodyear duratrac's.

If you do face a lot of mud, then Id recommend some Discovery Cooper STT's. Couple of my friends have that tire, and on the highway its not bad for the tread and the effectiveness you get in the mud.

I did look at the duratracs, they're almost $200 a piece in that size. And if thats a ridiculous tire for street,so would the STT's(which are also almost $200/piece). I have the cooper s/t's which are a fairly aggresive a/t, just want a little more than that.
