I shall replace the battery today. Any type of battery better for this truck? Or is it advisable to get one with more cold cranking amps to put less strain on the battery when starting?

I replaced the battery and thought I was in the clear. Flashing M+S and this time when I tried to restart the flashing started with the ignition on but truck not started yet. Started the truck Flashing M+S and SES Light. Turned off restarted M+S off but SES stayed on. What next?

i think that resets itself with time. drive it and see what happens. unless someone else has something different to say about that.

i would bet the light goes out on its own,,

also did the parts store sell you a battery off the shelf and did they put it on a charger to "top it off" before handing it to you? if not then did you put it on a trickle charger to top it off at home. some of those batteries sit for long periods of time on store shelves. it is a good rule to charge any new battery to make sure you are getting the most from new. i used to do this when i was in the auto parts biz. its good practice and assures you are good from the get go

I changed the oil in the truck. Then started it M+S off SES on. Let it sit for about an hour All lights off. Noticed my engine coolant is a tad low and leaking from a small tube on top of radiator right side facing front of vehicle. Any chance low fluid set off SES? Should I get the code read somewhere? Battery was not topped off but was stickered 1/09' I will connect it to my trickle charger tonight.

Tuesday morning truck started no lights. Let it warm up for about ten. Put in reverse and flashing M+S. Turned off key out restarted M+S off SES light on. M+S seems to come on when put in reverse. It has come on when put into drive but most of time when put into reverse. Ive noticed that when I change the gear lever into drive there is a moment where the lights on the shift lever flicker while changing gears so I try to make gear selection quick and positive. Does anyone eles gear selector flicker like this?
