Default Is the 3.9l related to the 4.6l?

I've done a bit of searching, but am unable to find a definitive answer (even Wikipedia has failed me). I'm looking at a pair of 2004 Discos, one an HSE with 47K, and one an SE with 28K. Both have the 4.6L V8 (from what I can tell). Is this engine related to the 3.9 (I once was a Buick) motor or does it have a different genealogy?

Also, what the differences between the models? I much prefer the interior and exterior colors of the HSE, but the 20K mileage difference is significant. I'm not too fond of electronic gizmos and widgets as they are simply one more thing to break, IMHO.

I'm also considering an LR3, but that's a whole 'nother price point from a Disco - perhaps 8-10K more around here. Any thoughts on the two vehicles?

All older Rover V-8 engines thru the 04 where built around the old Buick 215.

That's what I thought but was not 100% sure. Thanks!
