3 amigos - now where to look?
I have a 2000 Discovery that I have posted questions about before. I am the 4th owner of this vehicle and except for the 3 amigos, it's great!! 165K on it now, on it's second engine (replaced by owner #2 by a reputable indy shop at 125K). Owner #1 had LF wheel sensor replaced at 118K by the dealer. As far as I can tell, owner #2 had the ABS modulator replaced and also replaced the SLABS ECU with a salvage unit. This is where the newest problem comes in. My mechanic said to go to the dealer to have the codes read. The dealer charged $112.00 to tell me that there was a VIN mismatch between the truck and the SLABS unit, so he couldn't read the codes. At least the dealer did give me the vehicle history.
My mechanic has a diagnostic unit that allowed him to pull some codes before we tried the dealer. The faults that were stored read: Pump failure 1, pump failure 3, shuttle valve switch failure. The dealer said before he can go any farther he needs to install a new SLABS unit for $900. I really don't have the cash nor the inclination to do that.
IMPORTANT ADDITION!!
The amigos come and go at random, no pattern. Sometimes on start up they are gone, other times they come on when started. In June drove 1500 miles on vacation without ever seeing them. They are totally random!! Help!!
Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks in advance!!

do u have the actual numbers that were pulled for the error codes?
step 1, stop going to the dealer.
step 2 get yourself a code reader of your own. it will be cheaper then the $112 the dealer charged you. You will need it later on in the trucks life as well.

Codes are 114 Shuttle Valve electrical failure. Sometimes on, sometimes off. Used the ABS Amigo from Storey Wilson to get the codes. I have performed all the electrical checks suggested in the tech. info on rswsolutions.com to no avail. I know from my indy mechanic that the ABS modulator is a replacement, though I believe it was a used one and had the shuttle valve kit installed. Any thoughts or do I bite the big one and spend more money, or just ignore the lights?

if it is ONLY the shuttle valve failure code, then that may be a an issue with the modulator its self. http://www.landroverclubvi.com/absmod.html this (i hope) is my problem.
i'm doing a write-up for this on another modulator.
