3 Weeks of ownership
Picked up 2002 discovery II SE westminster 134000 miles, a few weeks ago, the vehicle was in ok condition so i am slowing bringing it back to par. I dont think it was maintained all that well but it was the right color combo black on black, local, and the right price. Im the 3rd owner and the second owner has had it since 06, im pretty sure they just fixed stuff when it broke instead of maintaining it. This is our 5th vehicle so not really gonna be driving it much, its just something to toy with, mod later but mainly get every think in mechanical order.
So far ive replaced the water pump, it was leaking, replaced gasket between on the power steering pump, was also leaking, replace 02 sensor bank 1 it was bad, fixed on existing plug wire as it was making contact intermittently. cleaned throttle body and idle air control. Pulled and fixed the ignition as the tumbers was hanging, changed all fluids: brake, ps, coolant, motor, diff, trans, and replaced the tires. Did a 15 hr paint correction to make it look better, and another 10 hrs cleaning the engine bay, underbody, and interior.
Both steering links on order, and steering shock will be doing that when they come in, ball joints are bad and feels like im steering the titantic.
Things still to do, valve cover gaskets are leaking, manifold to y pipe both sides missing a bolt and leaking, oil pan gasket has a slight seep, probably go ahead and do headgasket as well.
This is my second land rover first was 2010 supercharged sport. Even though this one has about every problem possible, im looking forward to saving its life. Ive always loved the discos and glad to pick one up. The information on here so far has been outstanding. Looking forward to getting it right then some modifying.
