Default 4.0 Disco Block Swaps

Awhile back I asked if a 4.0 block from a 96 Disco could be used with the heads and top end of a 2000 Disco to be used in a 2000 Disco. (I have a wrecked 96 Disco with a good engine and a good 2000 Disco with a cracked block) Responses were that it should work. Continuing on that swap idea would the heads, intake manifold and auxillary parts just bolt on or would there need to be modifications? In other words is it worth it or should I just buy a used Disco II engine and sell the wrecked 96?

That is going to have to be your call, factors to consider would be wear on the 96 block, labor and parts to rework the 96 before installing in the 2000, what it could be sold for complete, cost of used block including seals and maybe head gaskets

I don't know where you are, but I think most States require the replacement engine to be at least the same year or newer than the vehicle.
