For the last 1.5yrs I have been noticing that my 03 Disco with 65K (present) on it is continuing to eat oil. I have tried thicker oil, syn, dino, Castrol with additive thats "cuts oil loss by 17%" and nothing works. I burn a little more than 1 quart of oil per 1000 miles. LR keeps telling me 1000-1500K per quart of oil is normal.
It is 100% not leaking out and no white smoke when i drive
(Sarcastic)
LR recommends changing oil every 7500 miles, at 7500 miles I would have -.5 qts of oil
LR recommends I check my oil every so often and refill oil as needed, if I add 1 qt every 1000 miles, but the time I get to 7500 wont all of my old oil be replenished with new?
Need some help building this case. I not too mechanical but from what I gather it seems that maybe the rings werent honed properly so im getting blow-by??? My LR dealer said there is nothing they can do. Dont feel as this is right. Any input would help. Maybe a name/ email of a district rep??

They are right. LR does recommend changing the oil every 7500 miles, it is even in your owners manual.
It is perfectly acceptiable for any engine to use 1 qt per 1,000 miles. And no, adding 7 qt's to replace what was used does not equal a oil change.
Oil smoke is blue not white. Coolant smoke is white. After the truck has sat overnight stand by the back and have your wife start it, do you get a puff of blue smoke?
What oil weights have you tried? Have you tried a 15w-40? 15w-50? 20w-50?
Check the oil every time you get gas. Carry a quart with you and add if needed.
Dont go 7500 miles, go 5000 if you are using full synthetic oil and 3,000 if you are using conventinal oil.
And here is something that you may not have been told, engines get used to a brand of oil. If you are using a different brand every time you get the oil changed you are not doing yourself any favors. Pick one brand and stick with it. What ever brand you want, just use ONLY that brand, even when topping up between oil changes.
If the engine wasnt properly broken in it can use more oil. If it was neglected before you bought it it can use more oil.
But 1 quart per 1,000 miles is perfectly acceptiable by all manufactures.
You have no case against anybody.

For what it's worth, I've been using Pennzoil Platinum 5w-40 in my 4.6 and it uses less than a quart between 5,000 mile changes.
