Default 4.6L in a Disco II?

Hey guys and gals, I am a newbie to the Rover world and currently looking to purchase the following vehicle. I just wanted to know if anyone has seen this set up before and if it sounds like a good deal. The owner is our local Rover specialist who bought the car from a customer and took an engine out of a wrecked one her had. The rig is in great shape.

2000 Disco sport with 125,000mi
Engine replaced with a 4.6L HSE with 50,000mi
Head gaskets, timing cover, tune-up, computer upgrade?, new cams (not sure which ones), full service, etc.
tires, brakes all look good. Guy is asking $6,800. I know the book on this car is about $5,700 but with a rebuilt 4.6 engine it's hard to value. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the help!

I would offer him $6k cash if he can say when the head gaskets were done. The 4.6 is out of a 2003 or 2004 engine. get the vin off the engine to see if its in the oil pump failure range.

It only has one cam. If they say they replaced more, walk on it.

They installed the engine from a Range Rover P-38 HSE, thats why it has 50k on it and thats why its from a HSE.
Offer him $5800 and remind him that the economy sucks right now.

The 4.6 is a p38 model like spike said. The engine was obviously replaced. Find out if its a new or used engine, and low ball them accordingly .
