Default 4inch lift question. (springs from p38)

I recently met a fellow Land Rover owner. Today we swapped tires and wheels. My 18" Hurricane with Falken tires less than 10,000 miles on them for some 16" s spoke LR wheels wqith 265 75 16 Firestone Destination Mud Terrain. The Range Rover has a 4 inch Old man EMU lift kit. I know the springs will fit but what else will I need to fit this kit to my Disco II. He wants his truck lowered back to stock. Would my springs get him where he wants. I want to do this swap but want to be prepared. I read somewhere that you have to change out control arms. Are the control arms on the p38 the same as the Disco II? His don't look like the stock ones. I am trying to get as much info as I can before attempting this swap because I want to be sure and do it correctly. This swap is far cheaper than buying a kit. I know I sound cheap but the swap would make both he and I happy. His kit is not old and no sagging. The previous owner did not have the kit long before this guy bought it. It looked great with those forestone tires and that 4 inch lift. The Firestones are now on my Disco II and look great. They are a little noisy but I can live with that as I do take mine offroad when I can legally do it. Thanks to everyone for your help.

the ome springs on your d2 should get you around 2", so they're all you'll need. you get a lot more lift on a p38 because the adapters used add height. your springs on the p38 should get him somewhere between normal and high.

His p38 was changed from air bag to the 4 inch lift. I didn't know it would only lift my disco 2 inches. That is actually perfect because I didn't need 4 inches to begin with. So my next thing is which shocks do I get and is there any other parts I need to make this work?

at 2" you dont really need anything else. the new ome sport shocks are supposed to be pretty good. a lot of people are starting to use terrafirma shocks aswell.

OME has never made a 4" lift for a Rover. Best you can get from them is a set of 751 front springs from a D1 and 763 rear cargo springs for the rear, these will give you a strong 3"s.
Nothing, other then new replacement steel brake line, will be needed, other then a new set of OME's new Sport shocks.

I'm confused now. The p38 sits high. the springs look quite a bit longer than mine. I'l have to measure them. What I dont want to do is start the swap and get stuck. But from what I have got so far, the springs on the P38 wouldn't give me 4 inches of lift, it would give me 2 instead. Secondly OME never made a 4 inch lift for the P38 so I have to figure that one out. It doesn't have a body lift. Does the P38 use the same control arms as the disco II? According to a diagram I saw they look the same. the ones on this P38 do not look the same. The P38 has Koni shocks so I'm guessing whatever kit was used came with Koni shocks. The P38 owner wants to get his lowered back to about stock height. I want to lift mine. I'm not really needing 4 inches but I'll take it.

RTE is where you want to go for a 4" lift.

the p38 has a different spring mount because it uses air bags in place of traditional coil springs. you need an adapter to convert it to accept coils. that adapter has some height to it. when i converted my p38 to coils, i used 761 springs in the front and 764 springs in the rear and i got 3ish" in the front and 4" in the rear. when i used the same combination of springs on my d1, i got 2"

Sounds like I'll just need shocks and brake lines to swap his coils over, which will give me 2 inches of lift. This is perfect because I wanted 2 inches anyway. So for him I'd have to swap him my springs and get him back on stock shocks. What about the steering, will he need anything for it on his p38 to go back to stock height, or just my springs and shocks. I'm excited and I think the 2 inch lift will look great with my 265/75/16 Firestone Destination Mud Terrain's. Thanks for all of the help. I though it would be simple because I remembered hearing that the P38 and Disco II were based on the same chassis

the p38 and the d2 are on a completely different chassis. install will still be simple and straight forward. post up if you run into anything!
