4x4 Questions?
Like I said in an earlier post, I didn't get a owners manual with the new Rover. Can someone please describe any differences between the 4x4 system and that of other systems. My other vehicles (95 Jeep G/C, Toyota 82 truck, GMC Full-sized)? Is there a locking center diff? If it had an optional locker (rear), if there is such a thing on these, how would I know it? Any info would be helpful. I'm in Moab currently. Going to the Rockies tomorrow.
Thanks, Mark G

in a 98 disco youve got an open front diff, locking center, and open rear diff. there were no options for a limited slip or locker. the drivetrain is a permanent 4wd design unlike most others where you can switch from 2wd and 4wd.
On a Disco I's the transfer case has high and low locked,
high and low unlocked.
High unlocked is normal drive, if you need lower gears on road
you can go to low unlocked and you have the lower gears on
road.
Do not use locked high or low on road.
I most times come to a stop to change the transfer case.

You will find with the disco I 4X4 that you reallyonly need to change the shifter into low gear when you have a very challenging climb or decent, or going through fairly deep water hole.
The awd is great for most offroading.
