Default 7mpg?

Hey all,

So my disco has been throwing a code. A while ago a friend scanned it and told me it was the IAC stepper motor. Found a very clean, good looking one off ebay and replaced it. The engine idled fine before replacement and it does following replacement...
Now the CEL goes away and comes back sporadically, and my last tank shows 175 miles on a nearly empty tank! whatttttt?

Go get your codes checked when they appear. Most likely it is a bad MAF or O2 sensors if it happened suddenly. If it has been going over a period of time you may just need to do the 60k tune up. But before you do anything get the codes read.

IAC won't cause mileage issues. Need to keep watching for a new code that may explain this problem.

I am betting bad O2's.

Yeah I didn't expect that the IAC would be the culprit, except in cases where the engine computer decided to richen the mixture as a safety precaution... no idea why it would in the case of idle control though.
I've got 135k on the clock. Maybe 5k on new hg's. The O2 sensors look clean (i.e. new). I'll hit the MAF with some cleaner and read the codes again.

Fingers crossed. As it is I need a new coolant pump and a tranny service. Now something else to add to the list...
