Living at 6000 feet, I run 91 octane and average 14 in town and around 18.25 on the highway as long as I stay at 70 or slower, thats with 32" tires, gears and lockers.

I've never averaged out my MPG but you can definitely extend it with good driving practices. I almost never drive with my A/C on and I take every opportunity to coast, never go above 65 mph.

Well let's see 340 miles divided by 24.6 which is the fuel tank capacity comes out to 13.82 mpg. That sounds about right since I average 12 in the city and 15 on the highway. I run premium, don't drive over 65, not lead footed, carry a light load, run my tries at 40 psi, have a fairly new MAF, and the 60k mile service was done not to long ago.

Default Tank volume

Regarding tank volume, I thought it was approximately 22 gallons as well. Like I said, right or wrong, and somewhat touchy-feely, I've gone 30 miles with the warning light on (hey, I drive a lot interstate and I'm a guy that tends to procrastinate). Never gave a thought to potential fuel pump degradation.

Anyway, I've gone 30 miles with the idiot light on and was sweating bullets... This was where I filled up with 22.1 gallons. Did I have a couple more (20 miles or so) of safety net available?
